Lot of four Italian hand-executed watercolors of battle standards and seals from the region of Aosta in the Italian Alps, 110 km north-northwest of Turin. It is situated near the Italian entrance of the Mont Blanc Tunnel, at the confluence of the Buthier and the Dora Baltea, and at the junction of the Great and Little St. Bernard routes. The sheets, each 5" x 7" and ca. 1850, include images of the regimental flags of regional infantry and fusiliers regiments, the seal of the region or city of Aosta, and regimental battle streamers, most labeled as ca. mid-1700's. A fifth drawing shows an early version of the seal of Saxony. All are very fine.
